No more cuts to public education! Statewide Call-in Day - Thursday, July 24

The California School Employees Association (CSEA) ur
ges you to c all your state legislators and ask them to support the “Conference Committee Budget” — AB 1781.

  • AB 1781 is a budget solution that strikes a balance between cuts and revenues.
  • AB 1781 provides additional revenues to avoid even deeper cuts to education, health care and other vital programs.
  • AB 1781 closes tax loopholes for corporations and the wealthiest Californians.
  • While schools will still be cut by about $2 billion, AB 1781 restores $2.5 billion that the governor proposes to cut from the education budget.

Call the “Cuts Hurt” Hotline! TOLL-FREE: 1 (888) 268-4334. You will be transferred to your state representatives’ message recorder. It’s time to make YOUR voice heard!

March 15th Protest in Sacramento

Join SSA members to protest the Governor's proposed education budget cuts. Thousands will converge in Sacramento on Thursday, March 15th to demand the Governor keep true to his promise of the "Year of Education" by fully funding education! The Governor's proposed $5 billion budget cuts to education (for 2008-2009) will undoubtedly have a devastating and disproportionate impact on our already under-funded schools. CA already ranks 46th in the nation in per pupil spending. If you are interested in carpooling, please contact Mary Jones (233-3988) by 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 14th.
