Featured Supervisor


This month's featured SSA Supervisor is Stephanie Hearne!

Stephanie Hearne grew up in San Francisco. Prior to coming to the district, she worked for 11 years in bowling management and as a postal employee for 4 years. Stephanie came to West Contra Costa Unified School District in 2002.  She started out as a substitute and is now an Assessment Supervisor in the Assessment Department.

Stephanie says that the best part of her job is working with her coworkers and school site staff in identifying problems, coming up with solutions, and implementing them. In terms of being a supervisor, Stephanie says that she likes it when she is watching an employee handle a problem and she says to them ‘you handled that very well’ and they say ‘thanks, I learned that from you.’

On-the-job training has been essential to her development. In addition, Stephanie has a mentor who inspires her to bring the best part of herself to all that she does on the job.

In her free time, Stephanie used to bowl often (her average was about 200 but she has bowled a perfect 300) but currently spends more time reading and participating in church activities. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends. Stephanie has a son who graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and a daughter who will be a sophomore at El Cerrito High School. She also has four granddaughters.
